Designed to generate the high voltage required by the spark plug on compatible Briggs & Stratton single-cylinder engines.

The 398811 electronic armature can also be used on select older Briggs & Stratton engines to replace an original breaker-point ignition armature and convert the ignition system to solid-state electronic ignition.

This is an aftermarket replacement part.

Briggs & Stratton used different ignition armatures across engines with similar horsepower ratings. This ignition coil is intended for select compatible engines using Briggs & Stratton 398811 and related replacement numbers listed above.

Engine horsepower alone does not confirm compatibility.
